Get to Know Coley Taylor!

We are so excited to have added Coley Taylor to our staff in 2017. Coley has been a super volunteer for the last few years, and just recently we invited him to join our team in a full time capacity. He is now leading all aspects of production and media across all of our Vista ministries. You probably haven’t seen him too much as he loves to wear black and stay in the shadows with our production volunteers, but not seeing him really means that he is doing a great job!

Most recently Coley has begun work to create our new Vista Story Team. This team has been responsible for telling some of the most recent Stories that you may have seen on a Sunday. He has an incredible eye for detail and an ability to help tell the amazing stories of what God is doing around the Vista.

Want to volunteer with coley on a regular basis? Shoot him an email at coley@thevista.tv. Hope you enjoy getting to know a little more about him!

Tell Us About Yourself
I have a Computer Graphics Degree from Mary Hardin-Baylor where I graduated in 2012. While at UMHB, I met the love of my life, Miranda, and we got married in the July 2013. We have adorable twins, Carly and Caleb, who were born in June 2016 (and we haven’t slept much since).

Miranda and I started attending Vista in January of 2014 when some friends invited us to a COMgroup. Quickly after, this group became our local family and we have become more and more involved in the church.

What are you currently watching on Netflix?
I am currently watching “Travelers.” I enjoy any movie or tv show with an original concept or idea and this one met that criteria for sure.

Top reads:
I love modern war books. American Sniper, Lone Survivor, The Red Circle, etc.) I have a pretty difficult time reading fictional text, so any type of first hand record of history is really interesting to me.

First job:
My first real job was working during Summer for my Uncle’s air conditioning business in Houston, TX. Full days in peoples attics (most of which didn’t have AC, hence why we were there) will teach you quickly to respect people in the industry. I didn’t have my drivers license at the time so my mom would have to drop me off at work and pick me up. I remember on my last day I slipped and fell through a 12ft roof at a new build and landed on my back, when my mom picked me up that day I decided it was time to learn how to make a living with a camera instead of with a wrench.

What are the top three things on your bucket list?

  • Visit Iceland
  • Coach a Little League Baseball team
  • Film a destination wedding on a beach

Describe your favorite place in the world:
My favorite place in the world is sitting on top of water. (Any water: lake, pool, river, ocean..I just enjoy floating).

Favorite comfort food after a stressful week:
Wings. Any kind of chicken wings… and fries…those are good too.

What are you most passionate about?
I love helping people find a way to tell their story. So often people are too shy or embarrassed to tell their story, but if they only knew how many people would be affected by it, I think more would share. I love helping people find the courage and a way to share.

What are you most excited about as you join the Vista team?
I am excited about joining the Vista team because it is an incredible group of talented individuals using their talents to further the Gospel and I am just pumped to continue on board with that mindset.
